How To Install Sims 4 From Disc

The later version of base game, the Sims 3 refresh, is pre-patched to 1.42 and does need an Origin Account as well as a one-time Internet connection to install your game base game. The expansion packs do not need Origin and they do not need to be registered unless you want to claim your registration bonus. How do I install the Sims 3 without the Internet? And without Origin? I have a PC, windows 8. Also Origin is on my computer, I just don't see the purpose of using it for installation. Or the purpose of the internet for installation, since I never have or will play online. I just want to install the game on my computer, like it used be in 2000. Jul 15, 2010 The code to install Sims 3 is on a piece of advertising paper in the back of the disc container. The should be a code listed at the top of the paper.

You can bypass the launcher by going to the folder that holds Sims 3 and look for Sims3.exe. when you come to the screen where you start the game and load any save games, You cannot log in being you have no access to the internet and try to start your game. You only log in when you want to access the store or any functions that require internet access.

    hey RikkiChadwick21
have you reinstalled the base? are you getting and error offline even when you have internet connection?
origin does allow offline playing - open origin select origin and then offline. but im wondering if you are getting an error because of game data corruption

    Hi,
I REALLY want to have the ability to play The Sims 3 offline. So if anyone have ANY idea of how I can play it offline, PLEASE!

Do you have the original 2009 DVD boxed version of the base game? This will allow you to launch into the game without an internet connection, since that version of the base game does not have the Origin requirement. The original 2009 DVD boxed version of the base game will also allow you to bypass the launcher as Goldmoldar mentioned.

  • I am currently having the same problem still in 2017. I am posting on an old forum because as a member though not technically new, I cannot make a new discussion to the best of my knowledge. Which is another problem that is frustrating me right now as well on top of not being able to play the Sims 3 anymore at all offline. I have researched suggestions and solutions for about two days now and am giving up hope. I have to leave my house again this Monday and will have no internet for the week, The Sims is something I still have fun doing without wifi so I am desperate to find a solution or I wouldn't post here at all.
I own The Sims 3 base game and all expansion packs on disc. None was purchased online or through origin. I recently did an update I believe a month ago not realizing what it would do to my game. Now I cannot play The Sims 3 without Origin at all aka offline. The only solution I have seen posted so far is to go into origin, go offline and hope it works. My worry is when I tried this I cannot open origin while offline, so how do I change it to offline mode if it won't even open without internet? Like that even if so, it is not even guaranteed it will work. I regret updating my game recently because I played the Sims 3 for many many years without origin or any issues offline. Now all of a sudden I can't. It kinda makes me wonder why people have made the same complaints as old as 2011 and people like myself are still having the same problems in 2017 with what seems little solutions.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my base game and all my expansion packs, now the base game decided to automatically to download via Origin where before The Sims 3 was on my desktop before and not seen in my Origin game library. More frustrations there....I am afraid to uninstall origin (another suggestion I have seen on forums) because when I click uninstall it tells me a huge warning that some EA games will not be able to still run if this action is taken and it cannot be undone. Making me of course fear I won't be able to play the Sims 3 ever again online or offline if such actions cannot be undone???
I understand for certain reasons why Origin is doing this or EA games, however people spend good hard earned or savings on game discs (base game can be purchased up to as high as $50-$60 in some stores, expansion packs are 19.99 sometimes maybe more in certain stores), and it is very frustrating when things like this happen especially when it wasnt originally even needed. I have been playing Sims before I think I even knew what the internet was.
I am trying to remain calm and not get upset, but this is really plum me off. It almost makes me want to stop playing the sims ever again and not purchase anymore EA games in the future. :/
Can anyone help me? Thank you for your time in advance.

@HabsFan1988 - Hi there. Some things have happened since this thread was posted and the issue you are facing today is not the same as the ones from that many years ago. No matter how your game was installed, if you have accepted the Patch 1.69 (released in late 2015, refined in Jan 2016) update then your game is controlled by Origin. This is not a bug or a glitch, it is entirely intended by EA whether we like that decision or not.
You should, as you said, be able to go into Origin when you are actually online and select Go Offline. I always played that way myself for the last few months I was on that patch before I got rid of it by doing a re-install another way. If you have no Internet connection when you next attempt to launch Origin, then you will be asked to 'log in' while still in offline mode. If you do have an Internet connection on your next attempt, then Origin will forget all about your offline selection from that point forward -- this is what trips up many players, especially those who don't know in advance when and if their Internet connections will be active, those on the road who connect via WiFi occasionally, their connection keeps going on and off, etc.
Perhaps what you want to do in advance is log into Origin when online, select Go Offline, kill your computer's Internet connection completely (no cabled connection, no WiFi at all) and try to log back into Origin several times to make sure this keeps working for you. The downside, of course, is that you will not be able to use anything relying on the Internet on that computer in the meantime, so no email, web browsing, etc., even though you haven't left home yet and still after leaving home with the computer.
If your base game disc was manufactured before Sept 2012, then you can uninstall ALL of the game now, uninstall Origin, clean the Registry with a tool such as the free version of Piriform's CCleaner, (take a deep breath), and reinstall from the beginning. Do not accept any offers to install the EA Download Manager (EADM) or Origin along the way. The EADM was Origin's predecessor and will try to update itself to be Origin again. Finally, SuperPatch back up to 1.67 -- actually it's better to SuperPatch after just the base game install then again after all of your EP/SPs.
    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims/the-sims-3/the-sims-3-super-patcher
The game can't insist upon being downloaded or run by Origin if you no longer have Origin.
If your base game disc was manufactured after Sept 2012 (the vintage of the EP/SP discs doesn't matter), then you cannot do this. As of Jan 2016, Origin and Patch 1.69 became mandatory for new installs so you will end up back where you started even on an all disc install if the disc is 'newer.'
Another alternative, although it's not a free one, is to repurchase the entire game -- the base game and all EP/SPs -- on the Steam platform, uninstall and re-install it that way. Steam allows offline and Steam client bypasses to get the game started and can only be patched to 1.67. But that can be a pretty expensive solution. I went this way myself during one of Steam's twice a year sales where just about everything was at least 75% off so the repurchase was quite reasonable, at regular prices I would not have even thought about trying this. The next such sale probably won't be until around December, though.

  • @igazor Thank you so much for your comment and yes I was confused about rather I was having the same issues as before people were having or a different one. I just knew I had a problem with playing offline. I think I have figured it out (via while online choose offline on origin and turn wifi etc off.) the first option you gave me. I am going to try it this week and hope for the best. If not thank you for your other solutions as I can try them as well. This really helped and I appreciate your speedy reply. :) Now to hope I can nerd out on the sims offline this week.

    @HabsFan1988
Also, if you get Sims 3 on Steam it can be played offline, either in Steam's offline mode, or you can start directly from the ts3w.exe in the game files & bypass the launcher & Steam completely. (Steam Sims is 'capped' at version 1.67)
I know 're-buying' everything on Steam may not be your ideal solution, but it is another option to consider. Steam regularly has the S3 base game & EPs & SPs for 75% off ($5 USD each) during their seasonal 'Steam sales'. Not a totally bad deal to get away from Origin, if igazor's answer doesn't work out for you.

If you check out the last paragraph of my answer again, you will see that I explained this option and this is exactly what I ended up doing myself a few months ago. But the OP needs offline access beginning as soon as tomorrow, and there is no current Steam sale, so this would be more of an idea to consider for the future.
Also, personally I wouldn't want to spend 9-12 hours, or however long it takes someone depending on their bandwidth and other factors, to re-install this entire game and all EA Store content (already downloaded Store content won't work across Origin-to-Steam crossovers, it all has to be downloaded again from Purchase History) a day or two before leaving for an extended trip. Or maybe that's just me.

If you manage to get into the game then you don't need WiFi to keep playing. You just can't use the community bit in the Gallery.

  • Disconnect from the internet (putting your system in flight mode is said to accomplish the same), Origin will complain it is offline, tell it to go/stay offline, start the game from there.

Ohhh. I don't know then. I'm not a computer tech person.

Hmm that's interesting. Do you mean it logged you out of Origin instead of simply going offline?

  • It doesn't matter I never have internet connected as I don't have any here in the mountains. Just click on origin and put in your username and password, then start the sims.

Doesn't for me. I followed every step the ea help site said to and the only way I can play off line is to be on line first and then disconnect.

Saying 'not to be rude', then blatently being rude does not excuse rude behavior.
  • For Sims 3, put the launcher on your desktop and it should open it when you click it. For Sims 4, you can go to Origin, but if it needs to update (Origin or game), you're out of luck, but I have been able to get to Sims 4 when my wifi was out, all Origin said was 'Origin is offline.'
  • I never play online.... I have once or twice for maybe 30 minutes.. I only get into the game online 19/20 times to share a sim or sims on the Gallery or check how things are gallery wise... Totally playable offline.

Same here. I attempt to log in with my password, but all it says afterwards is Origin can't connect, and then it will ask me to try again. Even after attempting 20 times it still wouldn't allow me to play.

  • Same, I had this problem after moving house in March. Seems like its random as to whether people are able to log in or not. The only solution I had is that if you know you're going to be offline for a bit just don't turn your computer off but if the power goes unexpectedly that doesn't help. In March I had to use my brother's phone as a hotspot (or something.. hes the tech geek not me) and I just didn't turn my computer off for a few days.

  • Hello
The first post on this AHQ EA thread explains about what occurs in various situations,
    http://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Can-t-play-Origin-sign-in-games-without-Internet-connection/td-p/4233558
You need to first be online, then put the game into off line mode. Then later on you can play in offline mode.
