Here are aerials photographs of Biloxi taken in May 2005, about 90 days before Hurricane Katrina struck. The aerial tour begins on west beach, travels eastward to the Caillavet Street revitalization area, Hope VI, along Back Bay, Point Cadet Marina and the Isle of Capri Casino Resort, Gorenflo Elementary School, Imperial Palace, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (which was two months from its original opening date), Back Bay Boulevard, the Wells Ferry area, and the Cedar Lake Bridge. Mississippi law requires all the casinos on the Coast to be near the shoreline, which is a great place to be because of the fun and views such locations offer. With today's economy, getting the most 'Bang for the Buck' vacation is what the Mississippi Coast has to offer. Premier entertainers, luxurious and affordable rooms and outstanding golf are part of the mix of entertainment. And then there are the unique restaurants and plenty of shopping at the Coast stores and boutiques.
Currently, there are twelve Mississippi Coast casino resorts open. In Biloxi, the casinos include the Beau Rivage Resort, the IP, the Golden Nugget, Hard Rock, Boomtown, Grand Casino Biloxi, Palace Casino and Treasure Bay. In Gulfport there is the Island View Casino, and in Bay St. Louis in Hancock County, there is the Hollywood Casino Resort and in Waveland, the Silver Slipper, and the new Scarlet Pearl Casino and resort in D'Iberville, which opened late in 2015.
The photo above is Biloxi's beachfront casino row from the parking garage at the Beau Rivage. The foreground is the oak-lined entrance to the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino looking east. As you can see, this is no Hurricane Katrina disaster area any more as the Mississippi Coast has become again the best vacation value in the South.
The huge Beau Rivage Resort & Casino was completely restored following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 including its beautiful entrance gardens. Many of the live oaks on the property survived the hurricane, although several had to be replaced.
The IP here is seen photographed across Biloxi's Back Bay from the west. As you can see, Casinos in Biloxi are large operations with services and amenities that you would find at any quality casino resort anywhere in the world. The advantage here though, is easy access to the 26-mile beach along with fabulous deep-sea fishing, historic Mississippi Coast communities, and shopping. If that is not enough, the Mississippi Coast is only a 1½ hour drive to historic New Orleans. There is no place anywhere like it.
In picturesque Bay St. Louis the Hollywood Casino is bigger and better than ever and a favorite of golfers with its on-site Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, The Bridges. The casino also features an onsite RV park.

The Biloxi Isle has been transformed into the Vegas-like Golden Nugget Casino and Resort with more amenities and features with more upgrades to come,. Already on hand are a new gaming floor and premium restaurants.
The photo above is of the Palace Casino and Resort in East Biloxi. The Palace was completely remodeled after Katrina and moved upscale. Its gaming activities are inside the main complex and no longer in a casino barge that was attached to the building prior to the hurricane. Inside you will also find new restaurants and amenities. The Palace is also the only fully 'smoke free' casino on the Coast.
The Biloxi Harrah's, formerly Grand Casino, is also a great place to visit. Harrah's is in what was formerly the Grand Bay View Hotel on the north side of U.S 90 prior to Katrina.
Boomtown Casino on Biloxi's Back Bay is a local favorite with one of the best buffets on the Coast.
Treasure Bay is a small, intimate casino that is popular with locals and visitors. Located on the west Biloxi Beach
Treasure Bay features a beautiful blue lounge on the top floor overlooking the Gulf and the beach.
Island View Casino is located on the beach highway in Gulfport. Island View features one of the largest buffets and casino floors on the Coast. Click on the Island View photo to see a video of the casino's new tower.
Biloxi Casinos Before Katrina
The historic Biloxi Fishing schooner Glenn Swetman, offers tours of the Coast from the water. It is shown sailing by Beau Rivage, which towers in the distance. You can make out the Beau's lighthouse that is at the southwest corner of their harbor.
Among the improvements to the Mississippi Coast are improved roadways such as a brand new U.S. 90 (the beach highway). Biloxi also is moving quickly on more than a billion dollars of community improvements. In Biloxi, the improvements include a new recently opened library and community center, a new park called Lighthouse Park and Visitor's Center, a new Seafood Industry Museum and much more.
